The ask.

Craigslist is one of the most popular websites in the world, but one of the most rudimentary in terms of design. Many people argue that the design has become outdated and is due for a refresh. I explored how to freshen up the brand for a young professionals crowd by developing an app that utilizes many of the functions Craigslist currently offers. This was part of a Master's branding class assignment.

My design approach and solution.

As a personal user of Craigslist, I know what a wealth of information it holds. Most people aren't even aware of all of the things you can do on their platform. Which is why rather than creating a replica in mobile application form, I wanted to explore a way to take that information and provide a faster way to sift through it and get to what you are looking to find or do.

I created, 'assistable,' an app designed for busy young professionals who are finding out for the first time that once you are working full time, finding time in your day to do the tasks and errands you need to do becomes much harder. 'Assistable' is a pocket assistant that uses the Craigslist API to help you get the tasks you want to get done without having to leave the office. Find a new sofa, hire a plumber, look for a new apartment - all the things you might use Craigslist for, you can now use 'assistable' to do for you. To add a delightful, fun element - I tied in some inspiration from the 80's and 90's to bring a bit of nostalgia to my audience as they discover and explore the app.
